San Francisco – A Weekend Away

Travel and food are integral parts of our life. From the caveman to till date, we all move from one place to another. Nowadays has become a routine to keep up the mental health. Wherever you be, wherever you go, the home has a special place in your heart. Well, it does in mine too. My home, San Francisco is one of my favorite weekend destinations. I am so excited to write about a weekend away in San Francisco. San Francisco, California has been a place of beauty, joy, and continuous transformation. Every time I take a tour there is something new and more attractive.

My weekend started with a morning coffee at my favorite Peet’s Coffee. These are some of the best shops one can enjoy.

I headed towards Market Street and went to Ferry building. Many people love this place because of the skyscrapers all around. I see the original life at San Francisco here. You can enjoy small street shops and street performers.

Whenever I pay a visit, I walk into the Book passage for a quick visit and never miss Ice cream at Humphry Slocombe. I would recommend you to try this ice cream vendor at least once in your pretty life.

My choice for the afternoon was – the Fisherman’s Wharf. The tourist attraction spot of San Francisco. I took a streetcar and went on a smooth ride. I have to accept the fact that I made too many stops. Then I had my lunch at my favorite dining spot.

Next was the time to meet the sea lions at the Pier39 Corpulent California. They are so adorable that it was hard to leave the place.

Now I rode to my favorite destination – the Chinatown. It looks like a whole another world. The Chinatown in San Francisco is one the best among all. The Chinese culture can be observed in every step you take inside the town. I spent the entire evening here. I had my dinner at Hang Ah Dim Sum House.

Weekends without partying would be like bread without butter. I went on to spice up my weekend to the dance clubs and reached back home by 2 in the morning!

I had a sound sleep to travel more on Sunday. I still had a lot of places to be covered. I started my Sunday with the Mission. I had a quick brunch at Foreign Cinema. The warm cinnamon bun is my go-to choice. Mission murals were still out there for giving away treat to my eyes and cameras. I took a short self-guided tour in the Mission street and enjoyed every sight. It was quite a long walk. I then grabbed a snack for lunch at Mission Street. There are a variety of food options and restaurants.

I then decided to spend some time in the Golden Gate Park. I have been to this place even in my previous visits. I walked along the park for a while. Then took a cycle and enjoyed a few paths there. I then walked into the de Young Museum – a museum of fine arts.

I did not spend a whole day at the Golden Gate. I took a ride to Alcatraz. This place is so special. It was a beautiful island. Earlier Alcatraz as a home for military prisoners. It was a free guided tour by the staff members out there. We had an audio tour explaining the Alcatraz. The place is a tourist attraction due to the humongous history it holds. I went on a tour and left Alcatraz to travel to my most favorite spot in my homeland.

I had to catch a rideshare to console my tired legs. I reached Ocean Beach. This is where the city meets the Pacific Ocean. The view that this place gives is incomparable. I rode further to the mental peace, traveling in the hilly path to the view of the Golden Gate Bridge. This view was the best part of my day.

To travel is to feed the mental hunger for peace. This city has a lot more to explore. And that is the beauty, cause I still have something more to see during my next visit. I always try not to cover all parts of any city but leave a few for a revisit. I keep learning a lot during my travel. I try to understand the people and their cultures during my visit. And revisits have always been changing my first impression and impacted my perspective about life.
