San Jose Coffee Tour – Our Top Picks

On checking the title, you got an idea that I have another person to contribute to this article. This article goes like a debate between east and west. Yeah, I got company for a coffee tour in San Jose. He is none other than Skyler, a homesick boy from my college. He said he had never had a good coffee since he left Australia. This phrase made me cry, and I promised him to take him to the best coffee place that he will forget his Australian coffee taste completely.

Skyler on coffee in Australia…

There is a difference between coffee servings in Australia, it is quantity. There are no big mugs for coffee, and it is served in almost a quarter size cup and saucer. Australian coffee is mostly a cappuccino type of coffee and has cream in a froth at its best. There is no chance of having a franchise model coffee shop in Australia. Australians are coffee lovers to the core, they enjoy unique coffee brews. People are more often witnessed with a coffee cup in hand.

After knowing the explanation about Skyler’s expectations, we spent more than ten days in search of the best coffee in San Jose. Take a look at our list of coffee shops which satisfied our coffee thirst.

We chose a coffee shop based on the Aroma first, later ambiance, and taste of the coffee. The motive of our travel is to make Skyler forget about Australian coffee!

Academic Coffee

What every coffee lover likes is Aroma. A nice blend of coffee has an aroma that stimulates the urge to have a cup soon. We visited the place in the morning, so the urge was higher as the Aroma hit the nose. I never order any other flavor like vanilla or chocolate when I go to have coffee. I used to order Espresso, Macchiato, or Cappuccino. I had Macchiato here, and I loved it. Skyler seemed to have a good opinion about this place. The ambiance was good. The pricing was also fair.

Voyager Craft Coffee

This place was crowded, and so we decided to taste here because of its popularity. The cost was fair enough, and the coffee tasted great here. Skyler was looking for a suggestion from the coffee brewing person. She said most of the orders they get are Mocha. We tasted the same, and it was an amazing taste. Whenever we are going to visit San Jose, we are going to visit this place for sure.

Roy’s Station Coffee & Tea

I have visited this place many times, and I almost tasted all the varieties of coffee here, including cold coffee (Which I never choose easily). I chose cold coffee because of my friend’s suggestion. He is a local person, so I always give importance to his thought about food. The quality of the cakes and Lasagna are outstanding, and it’s worth the money spent on it. Skyler too agreed with my opinion about this place.

Hanna’s coffee and sweets

Pastries and cupcakes were lovely in Hanna’s Coffee and Sweets. The coffee was tasty, and the Aroma was great. A nice place to hang out and have a relaxing cup of coffee and almost home-like tasting food.

iJava Cafe

It is a kind of Mexican shop, and the coffee was different and tasted great here. We had Tacos and sweet crepe here. We were in search of a coffee place, but we ended up having a Mexican coffee, which was equally great. Prices were good and offered a unique experience. Check it out!

Bel Bacio Cafe

This place is a popular place for Italian brew. I also have heard that espresso tasted good here. We went in, and ended up having more sweet treats of Italy and left. We decided again to go there and had an espresso. I should say, the coffee taste was nice and refreshing.

Voltaire Coffee Roasters

This place has a good ambiance and good service too. The employees were kind and polite for a busy coffee shop. We tasted coffee and cookies here; both were fresh and tasted great. Cappuccino is the most popular coffee at this place. The quality of the coffee is so good.

voltaire coffee

We have visited almost all the good coffee shops in San Jose, and we have listed very few here. But the list of shops mentioned was not possible to forget. For me, I had a good experience hanging out with Skyler and the yummy brews of coffee.

Now, Skyler, a coffee person from the east end of the world, has to conclude about our experience. Based on the reactions after having coffee from the shops listed above, I thought his opinion would have changed. But, to my surprise, he still believes coffee tastes better in Australia…..
